Ideas on How to Return to the Triangle

Reach the Beach 2024
  • Talk your significant other or a friend into to spending a day at the beach in beautiful Wrightsville Beach. It’s only 2 hours from the Triangle and very easy to get to. Early September is a great time to be there as the weather is warm and pleasant and the beach is not as crowded.
  • Talk your significant other or a friend into to spending the weekend in Wilmington/Wrightsville Beach. Enjoy both the beach and historic Wilmington, with it’s nice coffee shops and outstanding restaurants. Visit Battleship North Carolina or the Wilmington Aquarium. Rates are more affordable as this will be weekend after Labor Day.
  • Talk to your riding partners to see if you can get a ride back with one of them. It is likely that someone you ride with is doing this ride and has a ride back with additional room
  • Get a hotel room downtown and ride back the next day. It’s been done before. Then you can not only brag to your non cycling friends but you can brag to your cycling friends as well
  • Ride to Wilmington and then back to the Rest Area on 421 and have someone pick you up there. It’s 150 miles total ride and the rest area is only about 1 hour from the Triangle.
  • Rent a car at the Wilmington Airport for under $100. Yes, you can ride to the counter in your cycling kit since I did it last year. You can rent an SUV for under $100 and bring three of your friends home and split the cost
